The Laboratory of Operations Research in the Department of Economics of the School of Economics and Business at the University of Thessaly organized successfully under the research project COOPERATION 2011 and the project entitled "Greenhouse Gas Emission Scenarios and Policies to Combat them by the year 2030, of Energy, Transport and Industry in Greece” the first two Pan-Hellenic Conferences on the Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment: Climate change on 26-27^th  March 2014 and October 31^st  and November 1^st , 2014. Then the successful organization of the 3^rd Pan-Hellenic Conference on Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment on October 30-31^st, 2015 was followed. Continuing this effort, the 4^th Pan-Hellenic Conference was organized on 4^th-5^th November 2016 in the lecture rooms of the Department (formerly French Institute, G. Kartalis 72). The 5th ENVECON Conference was orginized on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 November 2018 in the Department of Economics of the University of Thessaly at Volos Greece. Continuing this effort the 6th ENVECON Conference was jointly organized by the Laboratory of Operations Research of the Department of Economics University of Thessaly and the Department of Economy and Sustainable Development of the Harokopio University online on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 June 2021. 

The 7th ENVECON Conference was jointly organized by the Laboratory of Operations Research of the Department of Economics and the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Studies Program Education for Sustainability and the Environment of the  University of Thessaly with emphasis to "Environmental awareness and education". The Conference  took place online on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 November 2021. 

Τhe 8th ENVECON Conference was jointly organized by the Reasearch Unit of Environmental Communication and Education, Department of Public and Community Health, University of West Attica and the Laboratory of Operations Research of the Department of Economics at the University of Thessaly. The Conference took place on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 December 2022 and was either with physical presence in Athens (Building of National School of Public Healthl, Leoforos Alexandras Street 196) OR Online with emphasis to "Environmental Research Acticvities: Progress and Trends".

Now the 9th ENVECON Conference will be jointly organized by the Laboratory of Forest Economics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) of the School of Forestry and Natural Environment of AUTh and the Laboratory of Operations Research of the Department of Economics at the University of Thessaly. The Conference will take place on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 December 2023 and will be either with physical presence in Thessaloniki (at the premises of the aforementioned School at Finikas region in Thessaloniki, Greece) OR Online.

The scope of the conference is to present the main issues that concern the Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment with emphasis on the various environmental problems and their management and solution policies. Its aim is to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of environmental research through the exchange of views and experiences of researchers from different scientific fields and the finding of common components of research approaches.
